Location: 23500 Colonial Pkwy, Katy Timing: Day shift: 6:00am - 2:30 pm, Monday-Friday.Job Code: 82940048 The Manufacturing Brazer and Welder is responsible for hot work operations in the production of downhole drill bits. This includes preparation, welding or brazing, and finishing operations to manufacture products according to drawings, specifications and other forms of instruction.Utilize an acetylene torch or induction heating unit to Braze Polycrystaline Diamond Cutters into steel and tungsten carbide drill bits.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend and grind component parts.Detect faulty operation of equipment and materials.Examine work for defects.Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.The role is focused heavily on brazing applications, with candidates who have prior downhole drill bit brazing experience viewed as highly desirable.Experience & SkillsRequired SkillsExperience with welding processes, preferably Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and related manufacturing equipment.Basic computer skills, including: EmailSpreadsheet accessData entryTimekeeping systemsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.Preferred SkillsPrevious experience brazing in oilfield/downhole drilling tool production environments.Experience working within SAP or similar systems.Soft SkillsWillingness and ability to learn.Adaptability and openness to cross-training.Team-oriented mindset.Strong attention to detail and quality.Reliability and safety awareness.Education & Certification RequirementsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.PreferredWelding certifications from vocational or technical training programs (such as Lincoln Tech, UTI, or similar institutions) preferred but not required.Travel / TrainingLocal travel between training and permanent work locations may be required during onboarding/training.Training remains within the greater Houston area.Standard ScheduleMonday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PMOvertimeExtended shifts may occasionally be required.Occasional Saturday work may be required.Safety & PPEAll PPE is supplied by the company.All required work tools are supplied by the company.Respiratory protection is required for portions of the job.Compliance with manufacturing safety procedures is required.Interview ProcessPossibly an initial phone screening, followed by an in-person interview.
