Position: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Solidworks)

Location: Rosemont, IL (Onsite)

Duration: Long Term Contract/Full Time

Job Summary:

Relevant Experience: 5-8 Years

• We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with strong hands-on skills in SolidWorks.
\n
• The candidate will be responsible for mechanical system design, equipment/layout development, 3D modeling, engineering documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n
• Design and develop mechanical systems, equipment, assemblies, and layouts.
\n
• Create and manage 3D models using SolidWorks for mechanical equipment and components.
\n
• Develop models for mechanical systems, equipment, piping, cabling and layouts.
\n
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings.
\n
• Develop mechanical layouts, equipment arrangements, piping, Cabling routes, and utility systems.
\n
• Perform design calculations and select appropriate mechanical components/equipment.
\n
• Prepare BOMs, equipment schedules, specifications, and technical documentation.
\n
• Review designs for manufacturability, installation, serviceability.
\n
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, and other disciplines.
\n
• Resolve design clashes.
\n
• Incorporate engineering changes, and maintain design revisions.
\n
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, installation, and commissioning activities where applicable.
\n
• Interact with customers and project teams to understand requirements and provide engineering solutions.
\n

Required Skills:

\n
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and design experience.
\n
• Hands-on expertise in SolidWorks – part modelling, assemblies, sheet metal, Piping, cabling, drawings, configurations, and BOMs.
\n
• Knowledge of HVAC, SS piping, Valves, equipment layouts, utilities, and mechanical systems.
\n
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
\n
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
\n
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
\n

Qualification:

\n
• Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
\n
• 5–10 years of relevant mechanical design/engineering experience.
\n

Preferred:

\n
• Experience in healthcare/pharma, process industry, Food & Beverages, industrial, Manufacturing or commercial projects.
\n
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit – Mechanical/MEP.
\n
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, specifications, equipment datasheets, and architectural/structural drawings.
\n
• Understanding of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination.
\n
• Knowledge of applicable ASME, ISO, NFPA, or other relevant engineering standards.
\n
• Experience working with international customers and distributed engineering teams.
\n
